My Educational Technology Journey

patricia_smeyers_secaucusWelcome to my blog!  I began this educational journey at Boise State University in 2010, completing a Master of Educational Technology with a Graduate Certificate as a Technology Integration Specialist.

About Me:

I have been honored as the 2021 PAEMST Finalist, 2020 ITEEA Teacher Excellence Award, 2019 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year Finalist, 2019 Hudson County Teacher of the Year, 2019 NJTEEA Award, and the 2018 NJ Governor’s Exemplary Educator.  I am a fourth grade teacher who has taught many grade levels for the past 27 years.  I hold organizational leadership with the NJ STEM Pathways Network for Teacher Recruitment and Training where I organize partnerships, create and assist with innovation webinars for leaders and teachers,  advocate for policy and funding to government officials, and assist with building a pipeline for all students to have access to STEM leaders, educational content, and  promote student and teacher relationships with community/state/national leaders. I am on the leadership team for the International Society of Technology in Education for their STEM PLN and lead their Twitter Chat and assist with International webinars and community board discussions. I advocate equitable STEM education including SEL, financial literacy, and historical studies. I  am a speaker and presenter on various topics including, educational technology, social justice, social emotional learning, and STEM+SEL+Civics innovation on an International to local level. Her work created partnerships with the US Army, NJDOE, NJSA, government officials, universities, districts, and businesses to provide authentic learning experiences for ALL learners.

I invite you to join with me on my path of life-long learning to implement technology into the K-12 curriculum and STEM education through pedagogy and fluid research.   I welcome your comments, suggestions and support on this blog.  It is exhilarating to envision what future possibilities are in store for our students, teachers and administrators.  The potentials are endless!
